She’s keeping it in the family.
Kim Kardashian revealed that she plans to gift her first engagement ring from Kanye West to her eldest daughter North.
While in India with sister Khloé Kardashian on Thursday’s episode of “The Kardashians,” Kim explained that she still has her first engagement ring from ex-husband Kanye West.
“My first one that I got engaged with Kanye [was] a cushion cut, and that was the only piece of jewelry that I owned that I didn’t take to Paris,” Kim said, referring to her 2016 brutal robbery.
The Skims owner was robbed at gunpoint, with the thieves stealing over $10 million of her jewelry in her apartment at Paris’ exclusive Hotel de Pourtalès.
“And so that one I’m going to give to Northie because she was with me when I got engaged,” Kim said. “And she held it after and I took a photo. She was just a few months old.”
West proposed to Kim with a 15-carat diamond ring designed by famed jeweler Lorraine Schwartz on her 33rd birthday in October 2013 after the couple welcomed their first child together in June.
Months before the Paris robbery, the “Donda” rapper upgraded Kim’s bling with a 20-carat emerald cut ring also designed by Schwartz.
Kim noted that West warned her about wearing both sparklers in public after seeing her do so through a friend’s Instagram post.
“Kanye saw it and went, ‘Don’t you ever wear both of your rings at the same time. Are you looking to get robbed?’” The reality star recalled during the episode.
When the two went to Paris later that year, Kim said she left the first and “most important” engagement ring at home.
After the grueling ordeal, the reality star scaled back on all diamond jewelry, preferring to borrow rather than own any expensive pieces.
Kim filed for divorce from West in 2021 after years of the rapper’s erratic behavior strained their relationship. The two share four children: North, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 5.
